Description
Grand Duchesses Olga, Tatiana, Maria and Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanova of Russia in one of the photographs from their final formal portrait session in 1916. They would all be murdered in 1918 with their parents and brother.
With each girl's birth, their parents became more and more upset and desperate for a son until they finally got their wish in 1904. Because girls couldn't rule in Russia, their births were essentially disappointments to the country, especially when little Anastasia came along. They were still loved dearly, however.
Not at all my best. I got lazy with it and Maria's sweet face was victim to my over smudging. Sigh.
